Emergency preparedness:

Police department:  Don’t hesitate to call 911 to report suspicious activities. When calling from a cell phone call (562) 435-6711.  Suggest that you have the number keyed into your cell phone.

911 calls are answered by the State Police if you are calling while on the interstate highway or on an on ramp.

Suggest that you have an out of state contact telephone Number. Local cell phone and land line may be inoperative.

Residents are encouraged to attend meetings to offer their suggestions on Safety and Security. Awareness is the key to safety.

Safety:  Identity theft is the fastest growing problem in California.

Recommendations.  Shred all papers that have your name listed.

When disaster strikes some residences may be caught unprepared and may need assistance.

Watch committee members are encouraged to talk to owners and ask them if they are aware of residents in their building that may need assistance if an evacuation is necessary.

Discuss and recommend Emergency assembly with HOA.

Assembly areas will assist in accounting for residence.

1635.      Parking turn-around area?

1645.      Tennis court area?

1655.      Pool Area?

Get a kit.  Prepare a comprehensive emergency kit for your home and a small kit for each family vehicle.

Encourage owners to attend meetings and offer their suggestions on safety and security.

Committee members will be trained to provide assistance in opening garage doors, in the event of electric failures.

Determine location and tool necessary for Emergency Gas and water shut off.

Recording secretary needed.

A resident was observed exiting the property by jumping over the back fence and was advised that the fence was not a proper exit and that to continue that practice would only contribute to degrading security of the area.

A lady attempting to enter Clark terrace community area was asked if she was a resident or was she visiting a resident.  She informed the Watch committee member that she was visiting her boyfriend and that she could not remember the unit number.  When entry was refused, she waited until some one was exiting the property and entered when the gate was opened.

COMMENTS:

1.      In a recent conversation with unit owners regarding safety and security, a comment was made that they pay their association dues and it was committee responsibility to keep our community safe and secure.

2.      Some owners may not be aware that Elected and

Appointed members of the Association are non-paid volunteers that our only remuneration is the satisfaction of knowing that we are giving our time and talents to assist in maintaining our facility in a show-place condition, that we are proud to call our home.

NOTE: The above items will be used as talking points for the July meeting.
